چکیده

C oronary arteries ectasias are considered, in their majority, a variation of the manifestation of atheromatous disease. Similar aneurysmal lesions may be encountered in other vascular networks too, since the factors contributing to the creation of ectatic lesions are probably systemic. The presence of aneurysmal lesions in main arterial branches with a usually asymptomatic course may be a life threatening condition for the patient due to the possible sudden rupture of the aneurysms. Magnetic resonance imaging is a particularly reliable imaging technique which is harmless to the patient since there is no radiation emitted and it has special applications in the investigation of large vessels such as the aorta and its branches. The aim of our study is the investigation of eventual co-existence of aneurysmal lesions of the aorta and its branches in patients who have already been diagnosed with ectatic coronary artery disease and the follow-up of the course of such patients. Systemic atherosclerotic plaque vulnerability in patients with Coronary Artery Disease with a single Whole Body [FDG]PET-CT scan

Objective(s): Cardiovascular disease is a leading cause of morbimortality with over half cardiovascular events occurring in the asymptomatic population by traditional risk stratification. This preliminary study aimed to evaluate systemic plaque vulnerability in patients with prior Coronary Artery Disease (CAD) with a single Whole Body [FDG] PET-CT scan in terms of plaq...

Anatomical Study of Subclavian Artery and Its Branches

Background: The branches of right and left subclavian arteries are important in conducting of blood to spinal cord, posterior cranial fossa, base of the neck, thyroid gland, wall of the thorax and abdomen. The routine use of internal thoracic artery as a conduit in coronary artery bypass grafting surgery requires appreciation of the anatomical variations of these vessels. So far, there is not a...

Evaluation of tissue doppler echocardiography and T2* magnetic resonance imaging in iron load of patients with thalassemia major

Background: Iron-mediated cardiomyopathy is the main complication of thalassemia major (TM) patients. Therefore, there is an important clinical need in the early diagnosis and risk stratification of patients. The aim of this study was to evaluate the efficacy of tissue doppler imaging (TDI) to study cardiac iron overload in patients with TM using T2* magnetic resonance (MR) as the gold-standard...

Association Between Left Anterior Descending Artery Length with Coronary Artery Dominance: An Angiographic Study

Introduction: Although left anterior descending (LAD) artery supplies a large portion of the myocardium, the amount of blood supply provided by LAD is depended on the length of the LAD. The aim of the current study was to evaluate the association between coronary artery dominance and LAD anatomic types in patients with normal epicardial coronary arteries. Methods:...
